Islamabad: (RightNow) PASCO’s strategic wheat reserves are nearly depleted. This situation has arisen due to the government’s failure.

Despite IMF approval, federal and provincial governments failed to secure wheat. PASCO’s strategic reserves are almost completely exhausted.

The Economic Coordination Committee has approved the import of 1 million tons of wheat. A steering committee has been established for this purpose.

Conditions include pre-shipment inspection and funds for provincial needs. Officials have confirmed these measures.

It is noteworthy that the need for imports arose due to a decline in wheat production in Pakistan. The government has previously attempted to address this issue.
