Islamabad: (RightNow) A debate organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) focused on the creation of new administrative units. Prominent experts participated, discussing new provinces, power distribution, and financial autonomy.

According to details, Pakistan People’s Party leader Qamar Zaman Kaira highlighted the challenges of resource and power distribution in Pakistan. He emphasized empowering the local government system and the need for legal amendments.

Qamar Zaman Kaira further stated that working within the constitutional framework is essential, and local government cannot be abolished. He stressed the importance of public opinion in democracy and how institutions operate under public pressure.

Barrister Saif emphasized the need for new provinces, stating that political organizations are identity-driven and require strong local governance. He suggested forming a commission to build consensus.

It is noteworthy that Health Minister Mustafa Kamal mentioned that 4 Chief Ministers received 8,884 billion rupees, but there is no effective system to transfer funds downward. Salman Akram Raja stated that existing issues must be resolved before creating new provinces.
