Dubai: (RightNow) Dubai, now one of the world’s wealthiest cities, almost became part of Pakistan in 1947. A British proposal considered including Dubai and the Gulf region in Pakistan.

Renowned historian Sam Dalrymple reveals in his book ‘Shattered Lands’ that the British government considered making Dubai part of either Pakistan or India. This proposal was discussed during the partition of India.

During the British era, the administration of Gulf states was managed from Delhi instead of London. The Indian Political Service and Indian Army were deployed in these regions.

It is noteworthy that in 1947, the British government separated these areas from British India. Consequently, Dubai did not become part of Pakistan.

Sam Dalrymple states that if Pakistan had insisted at the time, Dubai’s economic growth could have been part of Pakistan’s history.
