Washington: (RightNow) The United States has lifted sanctions on Iraq’s airline Fly Baghdad. The US Treasury Department removed two of the company’s aircraft from the sanctions list.

However, sanctions remain on Fly Baghdad’s alleged owner Bashir Abdul Kazim Alwan Al-Shabani. He is still accused of having ties with the Quds Force.

Fly Baghdad assured the US Treasury of changes in its operations. The company demonstrated modifications in its activities after a review process.

US officials stated that removing Fly Baghdad from sanctions does not indicate a softening of policy towards Iran or the Quds Force. The decision is based on the company’s current activities.

It is noteworthy that in January 2024, Fly Baghdad was accused of having ties with the Quds Force. The US alleged the company provided logistical support to Iran-backed groups.
