Inflation in Pakistan increased by 5.1% annually in July 2026, with tomato prices up by 116%.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Inflation in Pakistan rose by 1.2% monthly and 5.1% annually in July 2026. Tomato prices surged by 116%.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, prices of eggs, broiler chicken, and vegetables increased by 14% to 22%. Tea prices also rose by 3.5%, with overall inflation reaching 8.6%.
In July, urban inflation was 8.7%, while rural areas saw a 9.9% increase. Non-food and non-energy inflation stood at 8.6%.
This inflation wave saw a 116% increase in tomato prices. Flour prices rose by 6.75%, and live broiler chicken prices increased by 19%.
It is noteworthy that food prices have increased by 10.64% annually. Transport costs rose by 15%, and education became 9% more expensive.
