Islamabad: (RightNow) The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued guidelines for Pakistani students studying in Afghanistan. PMDC has clarified that medical graduates from Afghanistan will not be eligible to practice in Pakistan and will not receive PMDC registration.

The PMDC advisory states that Afghan medical institutions are not included in the recognized list of the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Therefore, students graduating from Afghanistan will not be able to participate in Pakistan’s National Registration Examination.

PMDC has advised students to check the approval of the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) before enrolling in Afghan medical institutions.

This decision is significant as it helps maintain the standard of medical education in Pakistan, allowing only graduates from approved institutions to practice in the country.

It is noteworthy that PMDC made this decision due to the lack of recognized status of medical institutions in Afghanistan, aiming to prevent future difficulties for students.
