Islamabad: (RightNow). The government decides to purchase a new bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser for 95.049 million rupees to enhance the security of Chinese citizens. This vehicle will be acquired for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Secretariat to ensure safe travel for Chinese delegations.

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal states that protecting Chinese citizens is Pakistan’s top priority. This vehicle is being purchased for this purpose. According to official documents, this Land Cruiser will be in addition to the existing bulletproof vehicles.

The CPEC Secretariat mentions that due to the limited fleet of vehicles in the Cabinet Division, bulletproof vehicles are not available on time, causing delays in important official meetings.

It is clear that renting bulletproof vehicles from the private market is uncertain and expensive. The government has decided to purchase the vehicle through a direct contract under the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Planning had decided to transfer 58.3 million rupees from various projects, but the order could not be issued due to lack of approval by the fiscal year’s end.
