Karachi: (RightNow) Concerns have arisen over the ban on 10cc syringes following the rise in HIV cases among children in Karachi. The Pediatric Association has urged DRAP to reconsider this decision.

Chairman of NITAG, Professor Dr. Khalid Shafi, has sent an urgent letter to DRAP. The letter emphasizes the necessity of 10cc syringes for treating children.

The letter states that the ban could hinder children’s treatment. The use of syringes is essential in NICUs and pediatric wards.

Medical experts have suggested evidence-based measures to prevent HIV. They have appealed for syringes to be exempt from the ban.

It is important to note that experts stress the need to continue children’s treatment alongside HIV prevention efforts.
