Islamabad: (Right Now News) The federal government has decided to take significant steps to improve gas distribution in the country.

According to sources, the government has proposed a temporary ban on RLNG (Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) connections. The National Coordination and Management Council (NCMC), established on the Prime Minister’s directive, has presented recommendations in this regard.

The NCMC has written to the Petroleum Division, recommending the temporary suspension of new RLNG connections until gas supply improves.

The government has recommended a comprehensive strategy for effective management of Sui gas demand and supply. A weekly progress report on additional gas supply has also been requested.

It is noteworthy that the promotion of local natural gas as an alternative to expensive RLNG has been suggested. Consultation with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will be conducted on this matter.
