Ten Indian nationals have been charged with visa fraud in the US, involving fake robberies.

The US Department of Justice stated that Indian nationals were staging fake robberies to facilitate visa applications. After these robberies, they would claim assault to request visa leniency.
Two Indian nationals, Ramesh Bhai Patel and Kumar Patel, are already in custody. If convicted, they face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
This issue is sensitive for US authorities as it could affect the credibility of the visa system with India.
It is noteworthy that Indian nationals have previously faced various visa fraud charges, impacting relations between the two countries.
