Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has approved prices for 52 new drugs for treating various diseases, including cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and respiratory illnesses. This move is expected to improve patient access to modern medications.

Dr. Qaiser Waheed, former chairman of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, stated that the cabinet committee recently set prices for 52 new molecules. These drugs will soon be available in the market.

Over the past four months, the government has approved prices for a total of 87 drugs. In April 2026, prices for 35 drugs were approved.

With the implementation of drug pricing, pharmaceutical companies can begin manufacturing and importing these medications. This process may take one to two months.

It is noteworthy that in February 2024, the government allowed pharmaceutical manufacturers to set prices for non-essential drugs themselves. This improved drug availability and controlled the black market.
