Muscat: (RightNow) Last weekend, US officials held a secret meeting with the Houthis in Oman. The meeting took place at the US embassy with assistance from the Omani government.

According to Reuters, three sources revealed that the meeting aimed to promote stability and peace in the region. The Houthi delegation included Mohammed Abdul Salam and Abdul Malik Al-Ajri, who are under US sanctions.

US officials stated that the Houthis assured them they have no intention of attacking US ships. The Houthis intend to adhere to the 2025 ceasefire agreement.

This meeting is part of efforts to stabilize the region, aiming to establish better relations with the Houthis and restore peace.

It is noteworthy that in March 2025, the Trump administration designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization. Later, the US negotiated a ceasefire agreement.
