Pakistan’s forex reserves hit a record $26 billion, stabilizing the rupee.
Karachi: (RightNow) Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have reached a historic high. For the first time, the country’s dollar reserves have hit $26 billion, while the State Bank’s reserves have exceeded $21 billion.
According to the State Bank, $3 billion were acquired through the sale of Eurobonds. The purchase of dollars from the market has also contributed to the increase in reserves. The central bank’s reserves have surpassed $21 billion for the first time.
Including bank dollar reserves, the total national foreign exchange reserves have reached $26.5 billion. After five years, Pakistan has accumulated more dollars than needed for three months of imports.
Experts predict that the increase in foreign exchange reserves will stabilize the rupee against the dollar. This situation is significant for the country’s economy.
It is noteworthy that in 2023, the State Bank had only $3 billion in reserves. Over three years, the State Bank has increased its reserves from $3 billion to $21 billion.
