Ten investors, including three Turkish companies, show interest in IESCO privatization, boosting confidence in Pakistan’s energy sector.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Ten investors and business groups have expressed interest in the privatization of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO). These investors aim to acquire 51 to 100 percent of IESCO’s shares.
According to the Privatization Commission spokesperson, three Turkish energy companies are also interested in IESCO’s privatization. Pakistani business groups have also shown a desire to participate in this process.
Privatization Advisor Muhammad Ali stated that the investors’ response signifies confidence in the potential of Pakistan’s electricity distribution sector. He further mentioned that this process could bring positive changes to the national economy.
The privatization of IESCO is expected to not only increase investment but also improve electricity supply. Experts believe this will lead to better services for consumers.
It is noteworthy that the privatization of the electricity distribution sector in Pakistan has been ongoing for several years. The aim is to reduce the government’s burden and promote further investment.
