Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif assures Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai of following the constitutional process for the Chief Election Commissioner appointment.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has sent a letter to Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner. Sources reveal the letter assures adherence to the constitutional process.
According to sources, the Prime Minister’s letter also mentions the appointment of new members of the Election Commission. Mahmood Khan Achakzai has received the letter and will consult on it upon his arrival in Islamabad in the coming days.
Sources state that Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry met Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Quetta. During this meeting, the opposition leader confirmed receiving the letter from the Prime Minister.
Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai stated that he will consult with PTI Chairman and other leaders upon reaching Islamabad. This matter will soon be discussed in the Senate.
It is important to note that the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and members of the Election Commission follows a constitutional process, requiring consultation between the government and the opposition.
