Singapore: (RightNow) Singapore has significantly increased the salaries of its political leaders. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s annual salary has reached approximately 790 million rupees.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong informed Parliament that his salary will rise from 2.2 million to 3.6 million Singapore dollars. This increase aims to attract talented individuals into politics.

Under the new system, the salaries of the Deputy Prime Minister and other ministers will also increase. The government has clarified that the current ministers’ salaries will be raised starting October 15.

It is important to note that Singapore is considered one of the least corrupt countries in the world. Government salaries are on par with the private sector to reduce the risk of corruption.

Remember that the last major review of ministerial salaries in Singapore occurred about 15 years ago. The current increase was recommended by an independent committee.
