Islamabad: (RightNow) The federal government has initiated the export process of imported sugar. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has issued a tender for exporting 107,739 metric tons of sugar.

TCP has invited electronic bids until September 28, which will be opened on the same day. According to the tender documents, manual bids will not be accepted.

Officials have stated that the electronic bidding system is adopted to ensure transparency in the tender process.

This move is crucial for stabilizing sugar prices as the export of imported sugar will affect the quantity available in the local market.

It is noteworthy that last year, the government imported over 300,000 metric tons of sugar, costing 50 billion rupees.
