Islamabad: (RightNow) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has decided to standardize the charges for using the electricity network. NEPRA has set variable grid charges for open access consumers based on categories.

According to NEPRA’s decision, variable grid charges for consumers included in the bidding range from Rs 6.23 to Rs 19.62 per unit. Stranded grid charges for open access consumers are set between Rs 19.17 and Rs 32.56 per unit.

NEPRA has approved a transmission loss of 8.04% for 11 kV and 1.51% for 132 kV across the country. All fixed grid charges will be collected at Rs 1.00 per kilowatt monthly.

This decision will apply equally to all consumers, imposing additional charges on both open access and regular consumers. NEPRA has instructed the federal government to issue a gazette notification within 30 days.

It is noteworthy that NEPRA has directed all DISCOs to submit UOSC petitions to facilitate further measures for the coming year.
