Islamabad: (RightNow) Defense Minister Khawaja Asif faces severe criticism for sharing the NICOP numbers of Imran Khan’s sons on social media. Social media users have labeled this action as a violation of personal data privacy.

Khawaja Asif shared the NICOP cards and expiration details of Imran Khan’s sons on his social media accounts. He claimed that Imran Khan’s sons visited Pakistan in 2022 and can still return using their NICOP cards.

However, social media users have deemed this act illegal, citing the PECA Act 2016. They stated that under the NADRA Ordinance, protecting citizens’ identification information is mandatory.

Following this incident, awareness about privacy issues has increased among citizens. Many have demanded legal action, while some have appealed for the removal of the Defense Minister’s post.

It is noteworthy that under the PECA Act 2016, unauthorized use of someone’s identification information can lead to severe penalties. Khawaja Asif continues to face intense criticism regarding this matter.
