Azad Kashmir begins phased internet restoration, but Rawalakot and Sudhnoti remain suspended.
Muzaffarabad: (RightNow) The Home Department of Azad Kashmir announces phased restoration of internet services starting today. Internet is fully restored in Neelum and Haveli Kahuta districts of Muzaffarabad Division.
According to the department, DSL services are also restored in Mirpur and Bhimber. However, in Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Dhirkot, and Kotli, DSL service is available only for educational institutions and banks.
Educational institutions and banks will receive whitelisted DSL connections. Heads of these institutions must submit an affidavit ensuring the internet will not be used against national security.
In Poonch Division, internet services remain suspended in Rawalakot and Sudhnoti districts. This suspension is in place to protect national security.
It is noteworthy that the newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, promised to fully restore internet services within the next two days.
