Islamabad: (RightNow) The CDA has released a report on the fire in the nursery of the gynecology ward at PIMS Hospital Islamabad. The report declares the fire safety measures inadequate.

The CDA fire brigade reported that they arrived six minutes after receiving the alert at 6:55 AM, but faced operational challenges. According to the report, the hospital’s safety measures did not meet standards.

PIMS Executive Director Rana Imran Sikandar refuted these claims, stating that the hospital’s fire system was satisfactory and there were no obstacles in the rescue operation.

Following the incident, the government took action by suspending the federal health secretary and forming a committee for a transparent inquiry.

It is noteworthy that the fire resulted in the death of 14 newborns, while 19 individuals were rescued.
