Tehran: (RightNow) Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi states that the agreement with Oman does not mean the immediate opening of the Hormuz Strait. This agreement follows recent conflicts between Iran and Oman.

Iranian officials report that after a 40-day conflict over the Hormuz Strait, Iran’s focus has shifted towards this region. Iran has suffered significant losses due to disruptions in maritime traffic.

Kazem Gharibabadi mentions that the Hormuz Strait is now a matter of national security, and according to the agreement with Oman, entry into the Persian Gulf will pass through Iranian waters.

This route will function like a two-way motorway, with a width of 7 miles. It is further stated that under a temporary arrangement, Iran and Oman must negotiate a permanent route within 30 to 60 days.

It is noteworthy that an agreement has been reached to close the southern route of the Hormuz Strait, which will enhance Iran’s national security situation.
