Kyiv: (RightNow) Ukraine has imposed a ban on the popular Russian children’s cartoon ‘Masha and the Bear’. The ban targets the producers and distributors of the cartoon.

According to the Ukrainian government, the cartoon creates a positive image of Russia, which could pose a national security threat. The Minister of Culture stated that legal measures will be taken to limit the cartoon’s reach and revenue.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree imposing sanctions on Studio Animaccord and other related entities.

It is noteworthy that ‘Masha and the Bear’ is broadcast in 100 countries and has over 37 billion views on YouTube. Some countries, including the UK and Estonia, have also raised objections.

Russia has rejected Ukraine’s allegations, while Ukrainian officials have indicated further actions.
