Islamabad: (RightNow) The PIA Cabin Crew Association has expressed concerns over inadequate rest for staff. The association has written to the PIA CEO, questioning alleged violations of international regulations.

The Crew Association President, Nasrullah Afridi, stated that two different letters from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority have caused confusion. One letter emphasized the need for 12 hours of rest, while the other mentioned postponing this requirement.

He warned that insufficient rest could lead to serious accidents. A recent incident involving the emergency door slide opening on a Jeddah flight exemplifies this risk.

The association has urged PIA not to ignore this issue. They mentioned that after the incident, crew training was conducted at the PIA Training Center.

It is important to note that cabin crew rest is governed by international civil aviation laws. The association further stated that legal action will be taken if appropriate measures are not implemented.
