Islamabad: (RightNow) Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced that Google has opened its office in Pakistan, marking a significant development for the country’s tech talent. This move is expected to further strengthen the global technology ecosystem.

She stated that over 17,000 teams, including 25% women, registered for the ‘Learn AI 2026’ program. This will play a crucial role in developing local talent.

According to official sources, the export of Chromebooks manufactured in Pakistan to regional countries will be encouraged. A new era will begin in Pakistan with the collaboration of Google and other global tech leaders.

Shaza Fatima revealed that around 50,000 developers have been trained in various fields, including gaming and animation, boosting the country’s IT industry.

It is noteworthy that IT exports increased by 18% compared to last year. In July alone, IT exports amounted to $417 million. This is significant for Pakistan as it includes approximately 85 to 86% trade surplus.
