Tehran: (RightNow) Iran has labeled the drone attack on Kurdish Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s office as a false flag operation. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that no justification for the attack can be provided.

Abbas Araghchi informed his Iraqi counterpart via telephone that there is no evidence the attack was launched from Iranian soil. He mentioned that attempts are being made to sow seeds of hatred through false flag operations.

The Iranian Foreign Minister further expressed gratitude for the security services provided to Kurdish friends, emphasizing Iran’s role in keeping them safe from Saddam and ISIS.

Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran has always strived to protect Kurdish regions. He stressed that this incident should not affect relations.

It is noteworthy that drone attacks targeted the homes of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the intelligence chief in Iraq’s Kurdistan region on Monday, but no casualties were reported.
