Karachi: (RightNow) Filmmakers have approached the Sindh High Court after their film ‘Ghost School’ was banned from screening in Sindh. The petitioners have filed an appeal against the decision of the Sindh Board of Film Censors.

The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh government and other parties, seeking responses by August 21. The court has raised questions about the censor board’s decision.

The petitioners’ lawyer stated that the Punjab and Central Censor Boards have allowed the film’s screening, while the Sindh Board is raising objections. The lawyer informed the court that the film contains no objectionable content.

Regarding the ban, the lawyer further mentioned that under the Sindh Motion Act 2011, a film can only be stopped on specific legal grounds. The filmmakers argue that their film meets these legal criteria.

It is noteworthy that the film ‘Ghost School’ highlights the issue of ghost schools and has won the Best Direction award at the Asian Film Festival in the UK.
