Islamabad: (RightNow). Pakistan and Japan have signed a ¥3.5 billion grant agreement. Under this agreement, federal civil service officers will receive 16 scholarships for Masters and 1 for PhD in Japan.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, attended by officials from the Japanese embassy, JICA, and senior ministry officials. The grant, equivalent to $2.2 million, was signed by Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim, Senior Joint Secretary Miran Mohiuddin Soomro, and JICA’s Chief Representative Yusuke Shinozaki.

The Record of Discussions was signed by Japanese Ambassador Akamatsu Shoichi. Since 2018, eight batches have benefited from the JDS scholarships, enhancing officers’ capabilities.

Pakistani government officers are also regularly invited to Japan for various short-term training courses. These initiatives are strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

It is noteworthy that Japan has been cooperating with Pakistan in various sectors, including education and training. This initiative will further solidify the relations between the two nations.
