Lahore: (RightNow) The Pakistan Hockey Federation has replaced Imad Butt with Abubakr as the new captain of the hockey team. This change is considered significant ahead of the World Cup.

According to the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Abubakr will lead the national team in international competitions. The decision was made by the federation’s president, Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani, based on recommendations from the team’s Professional Development Committee.

Imad Shakeel Butt will remain part of the team and, according to the PHF, will contribute his experience as a senior player. The team is expected to perform better under Abubakr’s leadership.

The importance of this change lies in the potential for improved results by leveraging the experience and skills of both senior and young players.

It is noteworthy that Abubakr will lead the team against Korea in a home series on July 30, while the Hockey World Cup is set to begin on August 15.
