New Delhi: (RightNow) On Monday, Indian police baton-charged thousands of Cockroach Janata Party supporters marching towards the Parliament. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was unable to address the assembly session, which was postponed due to the protest.

The Cockroach Movement began a few months ago in India, gaining the attention of millions on social media. A large number of protesters gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where hunger striker Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly taken to the hospital.

Police erected strict barriers to prevent protesters from advancing towards the Parliament. According to Delhi Police, there is no more capacity at the protest site. No consensus was reached between the police and protesters.

It is important to note that the Cockroach Movement started in May after the national medical entrance exam papers were leaked. This affected 2 million students who had to retake the exam. Protesters are demanding government action against paper leaks.

Remember, the movement’s founder, Abhijit Dupke, demanded the resignation of the education minister. Sonam Wangchuk began a hunger strike, insisting the government take responsibility for failures in education.
