The Saudi-led coalition claims to have thwarted Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting key airports and airbases.
Riyadh: (RightNow) The Saudi-led coalition claims to have thwarted ballistic missile attacks by Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia. The Houthis claimed to have targeted Riyadh and Abha airports, as well as Khamis Mushait airbase, with drones and missiles.
Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the coalition’s spokesperson, stated that a ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh was intercepted and destroyed mid-air. The coalition also announced its intention to destroy the missile launch platform in Sanaa.
Houthi spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree claimed multiple attacks against Saudi Arabia, including drone strikes on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. Saudi officials have not immediately confirmed these claims.
These attacks occurred amid ongoing conflict in Yemen, where Saudi-backed Yemeni forces have intensified counterattacks against the Houthis. Yemeni forces have increased their assaults on the Houthis along the Red Sea coast.
It is noteworthy that the Houthis also attacked Aden International Airport in Yemen with missiles and drones on Wednesday morning. According to the Yemeni Ministry of Transport, a missile landed near the airport runway, disrupting flight landings.
