Tehran: (RightNow) Iran is experiencing a severe shortage of medicines, attributed to US sanctions and ongoing conflict. Affected patients are forced to use cheaper, less effective drugs or face treatment delays.

Reports indicate that approximately 800 medicines are impacted by these sanctions and the war. Pharmacies are also struggling as insurance companies owe $300 million.

Authorities have stated that many raw materials used in medicine production rely on imports. Over 97% of medicine production occurs within Iran.

This issue is deeply affecting Iran’s healthcare system, increasing patient difficulties. The crisis is also impacting the national economy.

It is noteworthy that US and Israeli airstrikes have exacerbated the crisis. These attacks have damaged over 40 pharmaceutical companies, worsening the situation.
