Vienna: (RightNow) Iran has secured a seat on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Committee. This success came through voting despite US opposition.

Agency members voted in favor of Iran, leading to its selection at the General Conference. Iran’s mission at the United Nations stated that Iran achieved this membership despite US efforts.

The Iranian mission declared that IAEA member states voted in Iran’s favor. A spokesperson for Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency said US attempts failed.

Iran condemned being barred from participating in the UN nuclear agency’s Vienna meeting. An Iranian representative stated this violates Iran’s rights.

It is noteworthy that Iran protested when its nuclear energy agency head was barred from the meeting. Iran’s ambassador said this action violates the legal framework.
