Pakistan announces full support for Saudi defense, condemning Houthi attacks at the UN.
New York: (RightNow) Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Asim Iftikhar states Pakistan fully supports Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and security. He strongly condemns the Houthi attacks.
At the UN Security Council meeting, Asim Iftikhar mentions Yemen’s situation has entered a dangerous phase. Immediate actions are essential to preserve regional peace and stability.
He further adds that Houthi attacks could have severe impacts on the global economy and energy security. Pakistan fully supports Saudi Arabia’s legitimate right to defense.
Asim Iftikhar highlights that the spread of Houthi attacks near Bab al-Mandab poses a threat to commercial shipping. Threatening major maritime routes could affect global trade.
It is noteworthy that since 2022, Yemen had a relatively calm situation. However, recent tensions risk escalating the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Pakistan supports the resumption of UN-led negotiations.
