Islamabad: (RightNow) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry states that public opinion from all four provinces will be sought for the establishment of new provinces. He emphasizes that if the public desires new provinces, their wishes will be respected.

Tariq Fazal mentions the proposal to make Islamabad a separate province, noting that while the timeline for other provinces is uncertain, the Islamabad unit will be introduced first.

He reveals that efforts are underway to establish the Islamabad unit through an act in parliament, expressing confidence in the success of this model. He believes all issues can be resolved within this new model.

The federal minister clarifies that Islamabad will not be a province but a major administrative unit. Other provinces can create their units based on this model. Efforts are ongoing to bring a governance model for Islamabad.

It is noteworthy that Islamabad was established through a presidential ordinance and has been operating under an ad-hoc system. Tariq Fazal stresses the need for a legislative assembly in Islamabad to oversee local matters.
