New Delhi: (RightNow) Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in India’s capital, New Delhi. He is attending the 11-member BRICS summit where discussions on the Iran and Ukraine wars are expected. The summit will take place on September 12 and 13.

Putin will be joined by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold separate meetings with the Russian and Iranian presidents. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also arriving in New Delhi for bilateral talks.

BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. The Iran conflict has highlighted divisions within the group.

Analysts suggest that the war with Iran and disruptions in energy supply through the Strait of Hormuz will be key topics at the BRICS summit. Global oil prices are also being affected.

It is noteworthy that the Ukraine war will also be a significant agenda item. India has supported ending the Ukraine conflict, while the U.S. continues efforts for peace talks.
