Islamabad: (RightNow) The recommendations to increase the upper age limit and chances for the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam have been rejected. The Establishment Division and Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) have presented their written stance to the parliamentary committee.

The Senate sub-committee had recommended increasing the age limit from 30 to 35 years and the chances from 3 to 5. However, the Establishment Division deemed these recommendations impractical and decided to maintain the current age limit of 30 years.

According to the Establishment Division, increasing the age limit or chances falls under the federal government’s policy framework. The FPSC adheres to the government-approved policy.

In the 174th meeting of the FPSC, it was also decided to uphold the current policy. The Establishment Division states that increasing age and chances would lead to a rise in the number of candidates, thereby increasing administrative burden.

It is noteworthy that officers joining the civil service at an older age have a shorter effective service period, affecting the availability of experienced officers in the long term.
