Washington: (RightNow) US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has resigned following a prolonged dispute with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The resignation has been sent to the White House, but its approval is yet to be confirmed.

Driscoll was appointed in February 2025 and was considered close to US Vice President JD Vance. At the time of his resignation, Driscoll expressed concerns over obstacles in military readiness.

Republican Congressman Pete Harrigan praised Driscoll’s service, stating he supported immediate change. The White House also commended his performance.

It is noteworthy that Driscoll had strongly criticized major defense companies, accusing them of fraud. He also emphasized modernizing the military.

Driscoll played a significant role in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, an unusual diplomatic role for a US Army Secretary.
