Washington: (RightNow) In the US, two passenger planes with the same flight number narrowly avoided a collision. Their flight paths came dangerously close, raising the risk of an accident. However, the air traffic controller’s quick thinking averted the danger.

Both American Airlines planes were coincidentally flying under flight number 2482. One was traveling from Chicago to Phoenix, while the other had already departed from Phoenix.

The air traffic controller identified the situation and assigned separate identifiers to the planes, calling one ‘Arrival’ and the other ‘Departure.’ This strategy maintained a safe distance between them.

As a result, both flights continued safely to their destinations. The controller stated it was their first experience with two planes coming close with the same call sign.

It is noteworthy that the flight from Chicago was delayed due to weather conditions. During this time, the airline used another plane to depart on time from Phoenix. The US Federal Aviation Administration and American Airlines will review the incident.
