Lahore: (RightNow) A referendum for the establishment of Khalistan is set to take place in the US this Sunday. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of Sikhs for Justice, announced this via video link at the Lahore Press Club.
Announcing the referendum, he claimed that 18 thousand Sikh farmers in India have committed suicide due to heavy debts. The organization states that this referendum will decide the future of Sikhs.
Authorities have not yet responded to this matter. However, there is ongoing opposition to the referendum in India.
This referendum is significant for Sikhs advocating for a separate state. It is considered a crucial step in the Khalistan movement.
