Islamabad: (RightNow) The federal government has revoked licenses of 50 pilots and suspended 33 others over fake license allegations.

The Ministry of Defense stated in a written response on Friday that due to fake license allegations, the UK, European Union, and the USA imposed bans on PIA’s international flights. This resulted in a financial loss of 200 billion rupees for PIA from August 2020 to December 2024.

Under Civil Aviation Rules 1994, the federal government deemed these actions necessary. A total of 50 licenses were revoked and 33 were suspended.

PIA suffered losses in its most profitable market, the UK, while Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic capitalized on this.

It is noteworthy that the federal cabinet has formed a committee led by the Minister of Defense to take further action.
