Karachi: (RightNow) The State Bank of Pakistan reports that the country’s foreign exchange reserves have surpassed $22.58 billion. This increase was recorded as of August 21, 2026.

According to the State Bank, the recent rise in reserves is due to an increase in official foreign exchange reserves, which have reached $17.0985 billion. This marks a growth of $170 million in one week.

Commercial banks hold reserves amounting to $5.4889 billion. Thus, the total liquid foreign exchange reserves of the country have reached $22.5874 billion.

The increase in foreign exchange reserves enhances Pakistan’s capacity for external payments. These reserves support the stability of the currency market and aid in meeting import requirements.

It is important to note that the sustainability of foreign exchange reserves depends on exports, remittances, and global financial assistance. Improvements in the export sector and increased foreign investment can further stabilize the reserves.
