Tehran: (RightNow) Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf presents talks with the US as a defense of national interests. He clarifies that these negotiations are not a sign of retreat but part of resistance.
According to the Iranian state news agency IRNA, Baqer Qalibaf responded to criticism from the Iranian daily Kayhan in an open letter. He stated that wise actions and empowered negotiations should not be seen as compromises.
Baqer Qalibaf emphasized that efforts to secure national rights should not be labeled as inaction. It is essential to uphold the responsibility of protecting the country’s sources of power.
He further added that it is their duty to consolidate the successes of war and safeguard the country from the enemy’s destruction.
It is noteworthy that the Iranian Parliamentary Speaker stressed the importance of negotiations with the US, stating that labeling the negotiating team’s success as treason is incorrect.
