Iran calls US sanctions economic terrorism, urges UN for immediate response. Sanctions may impact basic public needs.
Tehran: (RightNow) Iran has termed the new US sanctions as state and economic terrorism. They have demanded the United Nations to immediately reject these sanctions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, Security Council, and member states. The letter states that the US is using economic tactics against Iran after failing in war.
The Foreign Minister stated that the new sanctions will affect the public’s food, health, and basic needs. He has called for the immediate rejection of these coercive and unilateral sanctions.
This issue is significant for other UN member states as it violates global human rights principles.
It is noteworthy that the US has recently imposed new sanctions on Iran, which could further deteriorate Iran’s economic situation.
