A fire at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad killed 15 newborns. The Prime Minister has ordered an immediate investigation.
Islamabad: (RightNow) A fire in the nursery of PIMS Hospital has resulted in the death of 15 newborns. The incident occurred on the third floor of the hospital’s MCH ward.
Rescue officials have reported that the fire has been controlled and cooling operations are ongoing. The fire was caused by an air conditioning compressor explosion.
Hospital authorities stated that there were 16 babies in the nursery, with only one surviving. The district administration has formed an inquiry committee.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the incident and ordered an immediate investigation, calling it an irreparable loss.
It is noteworthy that the Federal Health Minister confirmed the death of 14 children and announced plans to visit the hospital.
