Islamabad: (RightNow) Pakistan’s unique culture and natural beauty have secured a spot on UNESCO’s Tentative World Heritage List. UNESCO has included 12 historical and cultural sites from Pakistan, bringing the total number of Pakistani sites to 37.

Inclusion in UNESCO’s tentative list is a significant first step towards achieving World Heritage status. These sites include Gandhara, Buddhist heritage, Mughal architecture, desert forts, and local culture.

Four additional sites, including the Kalash Valley in Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been added. Sindh’s historic forts of Kot Diji, Naokot, and Umerkot are also part of this list.

Punjab’s Pharwala Fort, Rawat Fort, and the tomb of Sultan Muqarrab Khan have been included in the tentative World Heritage list. This inclusion will enhance national heritage preservation and boost tourism.

It is noteworthy that inclusion in UNESCO’s list will further strengthen Pakistan’s global identity and cultural diplomacy.
