Muzaffarabad: (RightNow) The results of 6 constituencies in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly have been challenged in the Supreme Court. Opposing candidates have approached the apex court against the victory notifications.

The petitions are based on alleged electoral irregularities. The court has issued notices to the parties involved, with hearings scheduled for September 1 and 3.

Chaudhry Latif Akbar has challenged Saqib Majeed’s victory in LA-31 Khawra 5. Similarly, Chaudhry Yasin has contested Raja Riyasat’s win in LA-12 Kotli 5, among other constituencies.

This issue is significant as doubts over the election results have heightened political tensions. The outcome could impact the political landscape of Azad Kashmir.

It is noteworthy that after the 2026 elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan Muslim League (N) emerged as the largest party with 25 seats, while Pakistan Peoples Party secured 12 seats.
