PDMA Issues Alert for Monsoon’s Sixth Spell, Urban Flooding Risk Looms

PDMA has issued an alert for monsoon’s sixth spell, warning of urban flooding and landslides in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Lahore: (RightNow) PDMA has issued an alert for the sixth spell of monsoon rains. Rain is expected in most districts of the province from tonight until August 21.

According to the forecast, rain is likely in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad.

Rain is expected in Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Noorpur Thal. Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and DG Khan will experience rain on August 20 and 21.

There is a risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Lahore due to heavy rains. Landslides are possible in Murree, Galyat, and hilly areas.

It is noteworthy that various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to experience rain with strong winds and thunderstorms from August 17 to 21. Rain is anticipated in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, and Kohistan.
