Islamabad: (RightNow) The federal cabinet has approved the National Housing Policy 2026. This approval comes nearly 25 years after the last policy was sanctioned in 2001.

The Ministry of Housing and Works stated that the policy aims to provide a comprehensive national framework for housing and urban planning. Its vision is to ensure adequate, affordable, and sustainable housing for all.

The policy emphasizes improved access to housing, basic amenities, and supportive infrastructure. It includes land, housing finance, construction services, technology, and building materials.

Special focus is given to providing affordable housing. It includes constructing low-cost homes for low-income groups and rural populations.

It is noteworthy that this is the first change in national housing policy since 2001. Significant improvements in housing opportunities across the country are expected.
