Punjab’s Local Government Department requests over 12 billion rupees for local elections, with administrative tasks completed.
Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab’s Local Government Department has requested funds from the provincial government for local elections. A summary requesting 12 billion 52 crore 24 lakh rupees has been sent to the Chief Minister’s House.
The summary sent by the Local Government Department does not specify an election date yet. According to relevant sources, administrative preparations for elections in Punjab are complete.
Boundaries for union councils have been finalized for the local elections. The Local Government Department states that training for election staff is also complete.
Given the importance of the elections, efforts are being made to complete administrative steps swiftly. The Local Government Department says that after fund approval, the next phases will commence.
It is noteworthy that in 2018, a notification was issued suspending 58 thousand local representatives, after which local elections have been anticipated.
